Oliver The Octopus - DevLog (Update 1)
Hi guys!
Today we're gonna tell how was the first update process of this game, after the LudiJam#01.
Below contains a preview with a list of improvements that we'll let's dive in next.
List of improvements
- UI improvement;
- Added a credits screen;
- Gamepad support (Xbox, PS4 and generic controllers);
- Loading screen;
- Environment improvement of level 1;
- Animation when complete the level;
- New pause, game over and complete level screen.
Extra improvements
- Added the Master Cat logo in Splash Screen;
- Quit the game.
UI improvement
Below are the menu and level select screen reshaped with:
- New fonts;
- Animation for button navigation;
- Instructions button (at the left side) according with the screen context;
- Instructions buttons icons according with connected device (Keyboard or Gamepad);
Added a credits screen
Gamepad support (Xbox, PS4 and generic controllers)
We changed the current/old input system to the new input system, which allows a better integration between devices and it became easy to manage the actions of each input.
Loading screen
We add a simple loading screen.
Environment improvement of level 1
We experiment to add some trees to decorate the environment. So, as a test, we changed only the level 1. We have discovering which element could be nice in levels.
Animation when complete the level
We believe that could be nice the Oliver dancing when complete each level =) We added 3 dancing types. Below, one of them :P
OBS: We used Adobe Mixamo to help us with animation part.
New pause, game over and complete level screen
The pause, game over and level completed panels was modified. Instead of center position, now we put it on the left side.
